This is the worst kitchen product I have ever purchased. I followed directions and the drip trey was in correctly. Oil and grease leaked out of badly designed drip pan into the back of the air fryer. It smokes terribly and sets off my smoke alarm. I have only used it 3 times and will never use it again. Horrible product. Wish I had followed my first instinct and bought the Instapot Air Fryer instead. I am going to place a complaint to to Tristar Products!

Couple things you failed to mention, the function dial does not have a stop point, so one can simply turn back and forth in any direction with no positive off position, unlike the temperature and timer dials.. Also, while unit is on, you can turn any dial, (temperature, function, timer) to any setting, this is a safety issue.
You mention you can simply put a drip tray to catch any drippings and it won’t smoke? First of all, when ANY liquid comes into contact with a hot heating element, it’s simply shortens the life of the element. As you know, if you’ve actually used this machine in Air Fry Function, the heating element being used is the bottom and side elements. A tray of grease or drippings would certainly start smoking just from the proximity to the heating element. Additionally, any item of food that can be air fried, will contain some amount of moisture AND oil. This is why is smokes. I have do use an Air Fryer and it does not smoke at all.
Also, you mentioned the PowerXL is only 1500 watts and that’s why it may be slower, honestly, all small kitchen appliances top out at 1500 watts, I’m trying to figure how you came up with the 1800 watts comparison. My Air Fryer is 1500 watts.
Basically, PowerXL over promised and under performed. I have no problem using it to toast, heat things, maybe bake. But I would never use this as a straight up Air Fryer, or try grilling indoors (try frying a hamburger stove top and let us know if there’s smoke and how much drippings there is in a single burger.) In a pinch, single and with no other cooking options, this might work for one’s needs.
I just got my power XL air fryer grill oven yesterday , and after reading the instructions tried to air fry frozen chicken wing sections, my whole kitchen filled with smoke, I have the older style air fryer and it works perfect with frozen wings .
Not very happy with this air fry oven , it is more like a toaster oven ,
