Pebble Tec Vs. StoneScapes: A Discussion
Pebble Technology and StoneScapes are considered the leading brands for pool finishes for their numerous benefits in performance and design.
Although both brands are very competitive in the area of performance, the cost difference between Pebble Tec and StoneScapes is the key factor that sets them apart.
Pebble Tec: The World’s Most Trusted Pool Finishes®
Pebble technology international originated in 1987 with their original pebble pool finishes. They offer aggregate pool finishes in four different styles –
- PebbleTec® – The Original
- PebbleSheen® – Refined Textured Finish
- PebbleFina® – Enduring Smooth Finish
- PebbleBrilliance™ – Elegant Infused Finish
Pebble technology international provides the best-customized pool finishes to match your overall home aesthetics. The colors they provide are mostly nature-inspired.
So, without further ado, let us talk about some of the pros of Pebble Tec Pool Finishes.
- Color Choices
Pebble Tec provides a variety of color choices starting from bright ocean blue to aesthetic beige and grays.
The wide range of colors has something for your home that will make your pool stand out.
- Aesthetics
Pebble Tec Pool finishes are modern and nature-inspired that cater to the aesthetics of the modern house looks.
Their designs give the look of a riverbed without making it seem too much.
- Texture
Pebble tec also offers slip-resistant surfaces in their pool finishes. So, it makes movement inside the pool easier.
- Durability
Pebble Tec is highly durable compared to other alternatives. Cheap plaster will wear off over time from the chlorine.
But Pebble tec pool finishes are very durable against the chemicals of the pool and the changing environment.
- Maintenance
Pebble tec pool finishes come with the instructions for proper maintenance. Depending on the amount of dust collected, brushing the pool once per week is enough.
And the cleaning does not require much. Just a regular nylon-bristled pool brush.
- Overall Cost
Pebble Tec pool finishes will cost more than your regular plaster finish. But this is a one-time cost.
If you consider your maintenance cost, then Pebble Tec Pool finishes are more cost-effective. With proper maintenance, these pool finishes are said to last for 20 years.
With plaster, you will have to spend money every 4 to 5 years.
We have talked about the benefits of Pebble Tec pool finishes, and there are no major drawbacks of this other than the first-time expense.
However, when you consider the low maintenance cost and the lifetime value you get from this, the expense is not a significant demerit.

I would definitely not go with StoneScapes. We had a StoneScapes pebble finish installed and there were issues with the concrete setting. Water was never able to go into the pool. I understand that things come up, but their customer service is terrible. It takes forever for one of their warranty people to come out to take a look. Customer service is NOT their priority.
EVA, What does it mean “Water was never able to go into the pool”???
