The reason I have decided to write the Husqvarna YTH22V46 reviews is that this particular lawn mower has so many bad reviews. I just want you know to know what are they talking about.
When it comes to selecting the best lawn mower, the options might seem limitless.
With so many models on the market today, even lawn care professionals might be seen scratching their heads, unsure which machine and brand to choose.
Husqvarna is a widely-known and popular brand for producing high-end lawn mowers. The YTH22V46 is NOT one of their best creations, in my opinion.
Still, before you make the purchase, make sure to check the Husqvarna YTH22V46 problems as well.
A Short Review On Husqvarna YTH22V46 Lawn Mower
- Overview
Riding lawn mowers from Husqvarna deliver superior performance and results. And the YTH22V46 is no exception at all!
We found it quite easy to control and maneuver. Due to its compact size, the mower needs minimal storage space.
While trying out the machine, we experienced efficient mowing thanks to the machine’s features, including seat and height adjustment, an ergonomic steering wheel.
It also comes with hydrostatic gearboxes that are standard on all tractors, allowing for smooth, changeable forward and reverse speeds.
Air induction mowing increases airflow, resulting in a clean, uniform cut every time. Also, they can be customized with a variety of towable attachments and a mulch package for efficient grass fertilization.
- Key Features
There are certain reasons why YTH22V46 is one of the best lawn mowers of Husqvarna. The machine provides more than adequate value with all the features it comes with.
Let’s explore the key features of Husqvarna YTH22V46 to give you a proper insight into the lawn mower.
- Hydrostatic Transmission
Finding a lawn mower that will run smoothly and will not create much vibration is a difficult task.
If your mower is jerky and vibrates a lot, it will take a long time to mow, and you will not even get the desired cut you want.
The hydrostatic pedal transmission of the Husqvarna YTH22V46 ensures that the mower always runs smoothly forward and backward.
When driving forward, we reached a top speed of 5.2 mph and cruise control.
- Wide Cutting Deck
One of the most common problems that compact-sized lawn mowers have is the narrow cutting deck. But, Husqvarna YTH22V46 comes with a wide 46-inch cutting deck.
It’s quite large for a compact yard tractor and also provides simple cutting-height adjustment on the fender.
Due to the efficient air induction that increases airflow, this cutting deck also provides excellent cutting. It results in a cleaner and more precise cut that is beneficial to your lawn.
- Powerful Engine
Husqvarna YTH22V46 comes with a 22 HP V-twin engine. As this engine features full-pressure lubrication and excellent debris control, it lasts longer.
We found it quite simple to start and control. It also runs softly in comparison to other large engines.
- Good for Beginners
Yard tractors must have efficient control for ease of use. If you can’t control your mower properly, you can’t expect the desired and precise cut you want.
It’s even more difficult if you’re a beginner and not used to using lawn mowers.
With the hydrostatic technology, Husqvarna YTH22V46 provides smooth performance and an excellent machine for beginners.
- Compact in Size
Because of its small size, the Husqvarna YTH22V46 Hydro Pedal lawn mower is easy to transport and store.
As larger mowers have difficulties getting into small corners, you’ll have to finish your mowing with a weed-wacker or a walking mower.
But, with Husqvarna YTH22V46, you can go right into those areas with a tiny mower, and when you’re through, the tractor will fit conveniently into a smaller garage or shed.
- Additional Features
Husqvarna YTH22V46 has adjustable headlights that turn on as it gets dark. The comfortable seat adds much value to it. Cleaning the mower is also quite easy with the deck wash port.
The Hydro Pedal yard tractor is compatible with various towable attachments and a mulch kit, allowing you to make your mower a machine that can be used in any season throughout the year.
Husqvarna YTH22V46 Problems
So, are you convinced yet to get this amazing lawn mower? Well, hold your horses! Just like any other lawn mower, the YTH22V46 has some downsides that you should know about.
The YTH22V46’s primary flaw is that it isn’t particularly very durable or long-lasting. It’s not the best mower for a lawn that will rock it about a lot.
Also, the steering wheel tends to come to free quite fast. The mower should be enough for a generally flat lawn that is free of major impediments as rocks.
What Do the Users Say?
Enough from us, now; let’s see what the users have said about the Husqvarna YTH22V46 lawn mower.
The first thing that most of the customers appreciated is its hydrostatic gearbox that ensures smooth control and performance. The back seat is 15” high, which has been marked as quite convenient as well.
The combination of cruise control and the V-Twin engine makes the machine easy to maneuver, making it good for beginners, as the users stated.
The mower will save you and your neighbors from the unbearable noise as most tractors make as the YTH22V46 doesn’t make much noise.
Just like us, one of the downsides that some customers have mentioned is its durability issue. If you don’t have a flat lawn, the YTH22V46 is not recommended for you.
You should have a strong and robust lawn mower for your uneven lawn.

Conclusion
Finding a compact but powerful lawn mower within an affordable price range is quite challenging. Husqvarna YTH22V46 reviews should save you from the hassle of finding the best yard tractor.
I can’t recommend this for you considering those Husqvarna YTH22V46 problems.
Yes, the lawn mower may be perfect for beginners who have not used a yard tractor before. It comes with a lightweight design, powerful engine, and easy controllability.
The price range is also on the affordable side. But this is NOT for a PRO.
I have this mower from 2013 and had no problems until now 2021! Had to change blades every two years. It stop going forward and backwards three weeks ago. When disengaged I push it and there is a grinding sound, more backward than forward. Love the mower , it has been great for 8 yrs. Probably buy another one next spring! If the trans is gone might as well.
Is it built by MTD ?
I bought my Husqvarna YTH22V46 in 2013. I cut two to three yards per week during the summer and use it in the winter to get up leaves. One yard is on a slope. I’ve never had any problems until 2022 when the drive belt pulleys wore out. I keep it in a shed and always perform the required maintenance myself.
Purchased this model mower in 2020. It has been in the shop countless times because it will not pull. This is our 3rd and LAST Husqvarna!
BTW….. there is no number to reach and speak with anyone in the Warranty
Dept. You have to take it back to the dealer. I find that very strange that they are not available to speak with consumers.
Good Luck with yours!
Bought my Husqvarna YTH22V46 in 2014 and it still gets the job done mowing a 1 3/4 acre lot weekly. I perform the maintenance on the engine myself, changing the spark plugs yearly, oil, air, and fuel filter regularly. My problem with this tractor is the continuous blade engagement clutch issues and poor frame/deck design which allows grass to get clogged in areas of the deck that even my Echo gas blower can’t reach which requires me having to lay down and try to reach the clumps by hand. Two of my neighbors have John Deers, same type & size of yard and they never have this problem. As the old saying goes….”Should’a bought a John Deer”
I have had this mower for a few years now and my biggest complaint is that it cuts the grass too low with the deck raised at the highest setting. I have a tall fescue lawn. Even with the tires filled to the max and the deck raised to the max it cuts under 4 inches, about 3 1/2 or so. Not good for tall fescue during the hot mid summer. Pretty disappointing because I can’t afford to get a different mower right now…
