Like any electronic device, you may face issues with the oven. So, it is important to know about such issues beforehand.

Common Problems Of Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven

Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven problems

Premium kitchen appliances like this air fryer toaster oven come at a premium price. So, it is not something that you can dispose of and buy a new one in a short time.

Like every electrical appliance, this oven may also show some problems over time.

There are a few common problems that you may face with toaster ovens and any oven in general.

You must identify these problems properly so that you can get to the core of the problem and repair it.

  • Faulty light of the toaster oven
  • Toaster Oven turns on but does not get heated
  • Oven stops working suddenly
  • Faulty switches of the oven
  • Issue of sparking inside the oven
  • Power disruption of Oven

Now let’s talk about these problems more elaborately and see how you can troubleshoot them yourself.

Faulty Light Of The Toaster Oven

Faulty light bulb is the most common problem that people face with their toaster ovens.

The light of the toaster oven may get very dim or stop working altogether. Usually, this happens because of an issue with the light bulb itself.

Sometimes it may be happening due to wiring issues or any issue with the machine’s motherboard.
You can replace the fused light bulb very easily.

But if that does not work, it is possible that the problem lies within the motherboard.

And that can be very tricky to fix. It may end up causing more damage to the motherboard if handled poorly.

Toaster Oven Turns On But Does Not Get Heated

inside of Cuisinart air fryer

In a toaster oven, the heating elements get charged up from the electricity passed through the solenoid and convert the electricity to heat energy.

So, when you turn on the oven, the energy produced from the electrical resistance heats up the elements.

Sometimes the parts of the device connected to this process may malfunction and cause this problem. In fact, that may be the reasons why has your Cuisinart TOA-60 stopped working!

So, you will have to check the heat elements, the thermostat, the solenoid, the fuse, and the control board to identify the source of the problem.

  • Loose/Broken Heating Elements/Wires

Broken wires in the cooking chamber or the heating elements may result in the Cuisinart air fryer toaster not working.

These wires are very fragile and can get damaged for any reason. But it can be fixed by changing the heating element and rewiring it.

  • Malfunctioning Solenoid

The solenoid may malfunction for any reason which may result in the overheating of the heating elements.

This may even cause the heating element to burn out. The fuse of the oven stops this damage from occurring.

  • Blown Fuse

The fuse blows whenever there is a risk of overheating. A damaged or faulty fuse may make the oven malfunction and cause heating issues.

  • Control Board Problem

The control board contains the switches you use to control the temperature and timer. If the board malfunctions, none of the switches will work.

And so, the oven will turn on but not get heated. So, the whole board will have to be replaced in order to get the oven working properly.

  • Faulty Thermostat

The thermostat regulates the temperature inside the oven. A faulty thermostat can also be the reason if your oven does not get heated up.

So, it is important to check the thermostat with a multimeter to identify whether it is causing the heating problem.

Oven Stops Working Suddenly

The oven can stop suddenly due to overheating or because of a number of reasons such as thermostat issues, heating element issues, ventilation problems, electrical malfunctions, or even oven components malfunction.

When the thermostat stops working, it fails to regulate the temperature. This may cause the oven to get very heated.

At that time, the safety thermostat built in the oven kicks in to stop the oven from getting overheated and shuts it down.

Overheating can also be caused due to problems in the ventilation of the oven. A faulty fan or motor that turns the fan can cause ventilation issues.

So, the airflow may get blocked due to this and cause overheating.

Wiring issues in different components of the oven can also be the reason behind the oven shutting down suddenly.

A faulty switch or damaged control board will cause the oven clock to stop working. So that may make the oven shut down suddenly. Maybe, these are some reasons why has your Cuisinart air fryer TOA-60 stopped working?

Faulty Switches Of The Oven

Modern toaster ovens have touchscreen switches, unlike traditional ovens. The touch screen is connected to the main control board through electrical circuits.

Over time, components of the circuit may wear out after usage. So, the touchpad loses connection with the control board.

Sometimes the control board can be faulty which causes the switches to stop working. If the touchscreen on the oven lights up but does not work, it may indicate the problem is in the control board.

A professional technician can check for the issue and repair it easily.

Issue Of Sparking Inside The Oven

troubleshooting Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven

Sparking may be seen inside the cooking chamber when you turn the oven on or try to use it.

This happens due to the breaking down of the insulation. The insulation breaks down over the course of time from continuous usage of the oven.

This causes the wiring malfunctions as the wires inside the appliance come in contact with the stove of the oven causing the sparks.

Wrong wiring or wear and tear of the insulation are the prime reasons behind this issue.

You should contact a professional technician if you see sparking inside the oven because it can lead to severe accidents.

Power Disruption Of Oven

After power outages, your oven can face power failure. In fact, that’s a common one among all those Cuisinart TOA-60 problems!

Power outages can damage the oven’s components and even cause wiring issues.

As a result, the oven may fail to turn on. This is a very common problem with electrical appliances. So, there are a few things you need to check if your oven stops working after a power outage.

The fuse and the breaker of the oven should be checked for damages. During a power outage, the oven’s fuse and the breaker connected to the oven may blow.

And damaged breakers may result in power disruption.

Most often, ovens with digital displays will show an error code after power outages.

The user manual has the explanation behind these error codes and the steps you need to take to fix them.

Which Components Should You Check For Problems?

Whenever you face problems with your Cuisinart air fryer toaster not working, you should check these four important components of the oven so that you can troubleshoot the core of the problem.

  • Solenoid

The solenoid is an important component of the oven that controls the electricity flow to the heating element.

If the solenoid is faulty, the power supply to the heating element will be disrupted and so it will get overheated or under heated.

If the solenoid is completely damaged and does not work, the cooking chamber will not be heated at all.

  • Main Power Switch

After extensive usage of the oven, the power switch tends to wear off over the course of time. It is the most important part of the oven so it can go bad from regular use.

So, the main power switch should be checked from time to time for any indications of damage or fraying. Apart from that, it should also be cleaned properly to get rid of any dirt collection.

In case the power switch is actually damaged, your technician can replace it very easily.

  • Thermal Fuse

Since the thermal fuse protects the oven from getting overheated and causing more damage to the appliance, it should be checked for defects or malfunction whenever the oven is showing problems.

It should also be cleaned thoroughly from time to time.

You can check whether your thermal fuse is faulty with the help of a continuity tester.

If it is faulty or has malfunctioned, the fuse should be replaced to avoid any damage to the oven.

  • Heating Element

If there is an obstruction in the power supply to the heating element, it will not work at all and fail to heat up the oven. The continuity tester should be used to check for issues with the heating element.

A faulty heating element can be replaced by installing a new unit and rewiring it properly.

Cuisinart Air Fryer Dial Not Working

stuck knob of TOA-60

It’s another common issue among all the Cuisinart TOA-60 problems if your TOA-60 is an older unit. This is exactly what happens…

Most of the time the knob won’t turn all the way to the left or right to select the warm or air fryer function. The knob may turn for some modes but may not for others.

When the dial knob is either stuck or not responding to the right mode, it becomes useless. The toaster function may still work, but when the dial does not work, it becomes frustrating.

So, what should you do when your Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven knob stuck?

Well, all these above-mentioned symptoms indicates that you have to replace the rotary switch that is located behind the knob.

That’s where it gets complicated…

You see, it’s not easy to find the rotary switch. The best way is to contact the manufacturer for a rotary switch.

If you can’t find it anywhere, you can try eBay. Some Chinese manufacturer sell this switch there. It may cost you something like $40 to $50.

Conclusion

Electrical appliances are very sensitive and prone to damage no matter how premium they are.

We recommend you disconnect the appliance from its main power supply before you check for problems.

Now that you know about your Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven problems, it will be easier for you to identify the core of the problem.

Whether you fix it yourself or hire a technician to do it, please maintain safety guidelines while handling the appliance.

  1. I believe the most likely reason for the power problems experienced on this (and also what looks to be the identical Geek Chef Air Fryer Countertop Oven) is a poor design where the main power to the unit runs through and depends upon an inferiorly made/chosen door light switch. This switch quickly fails and then the unit will no longer power on. When problems first begin to occur you can sometimes jiggle/operate the door switch and power may momentarily/intermittently restore. I believe they should all be recalled. I’ve gone through 2 or 3 Geek Chef units, each of which developed the exact same problem.

  2. I got my air fryer 14 months ago and has been a month that doesn’t work. I am really disappointed because is no way to find a place where I can get it fix and I don’t think I will buy another one. They are expensive to have just working fir 1 year. The way I think about this appliance is not worth it to buy it. ☹️

  3. The bake only function still uses the fan. The fan is impossible to clean of grease so I’d prefer to Not to use air fry or convection. How does one turn off the fan?

  4. Cuisinart Airfryer Toaster Oven TOA-60 Series:
This is our second attempt at having a functioning oven. The first oven heated uo to aproximately 50 to 75 degrees above the temperature setting making cooking time hard to judge. We returned that one and got a second one from Amazon. This oven also runs at least 50 degrees over the temperature setting. Is there a solution or is this product just unreliable.

My broil/air broil won’t function. I’ve had it for about 3 years and with all the modern technology one would think the manufacturers would build these to replace parts easily. They are convenient but expensive. The next one will definitely be another brand. I will also purchase a replacement warranty if one is available. It is very sad these days that everything is built to break.

  6. My broiler toaster oven has been used a total of 5 times. The broiler knob does not turn over all the way. It goes to the toast position and will not go any further so I cannot broil a steak.

  7. The toast function works on the Cuisinart 60 air fryer toaster oven. But none of the other functions work. Is the oven timer knob broken or something else?

  8. My knob felt sticky, now it’s ok but nothing but convection bake works now. Out of warranty now. This is the second time this has happened. Will not be replacing with another Cuisinart

  9. I bought my first unit late 2018, broke in 2020, the function knob would not move. They replaced it in 2020 and now it’s early 2022 broken again with the same problem the function knob is broken. I called Conair and the lady said there is nothing they can do. I insisted that is not right and she said ok we can send you a refurbished unit or a 20% discount. I am calling now to speak to a manager to discuss this issue as I see from above it’s a problem they have often.

  10. The fan in the back of machine is 6” from wall and still is heating the wall to a worrisome level. This has not even addressed in any review for safety

  11. I’ve had mine for 5 1/2 years with no problems, but it recently stopped cooking. I can hear the timer ticking, but it is not heating up. Hoping I can just replace heating element and it will function again

  12. The back of my unit is 11 inches from the wall and the wall is heating to an extremely HOT level.
I just received it today and I don’t feel safe is using it again.

  13. My Cuisinart Air Fryer is less that 2 years old. Recently it has started staying on even with the door open. Then today, it won’t come on at all, although the light still works.

  14. I have a Toa120 cuisinart airfry oven and everything works fine except the lite. It just quit working. can i replace it, do you have instructions on replacing and where to get a new bulb.

  15. Basically an inferior piece of Chinese inferior engineering and construction. It is no wonder that China has taken over our industries to provide barely functional devices that are made to NOT LAST.

  16. A question about preheating; Frozen Pizza instructions called for heating in a conventional oven at 400 for 21 minutes. I Set my Cuisinart analog control air fryer to 400 bake and attempted to consider preheating and heating together as 25 minutes. The pizza was incinerated totally black top and bottom. I called DiGiorno and they had no advice. Should I use a lower temperature? Shorter bake time? 300 for 15 minutes ? My air fryer is the
