Alkaline Water Brands To Avoid (Trust These Brands Instead)

So, you think it increases your metabolism and whatnot, but due to FDA warning and other issues, I think you should know which alkaline water brands to avoid.

I don’t encourage or discourage you to drink this water. But if you drink this water a lot, I just want you to stay away from some of those alkaline water brands.

You will learn why to avoid them including which brands you can trust. If that sounds promising to you, keep reading.

Which Alkaline Water Brands You Should Avoid?

alkaline water brands to avoid

There are some very specific allegations against some alkaline water brands. FDA issued warnings and you can find some alleged pyramid scheme too!

So, here is a list of brands you should not buy:

  • Real Water

This is the least trusted alkaline water brand to me simply because of the dire alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA discouraged people to drink that water after multiple people reported having liver failure issues.

From children to adults, several people reported liver failure including nausea, vomiting, fever, and fatigue to some other people. The only common link between these people was drinking this Nevada-based water brand!

Yes, the brand including its parent company has requested to return the purchased bottles to the distributors, but the damages to many people have already been done!

The parent company of Real Water is facing several lawsuits regarding this matter.

  • Kangen Water

The main allegation about this brand is that they run a pyramid scheme to market the product and that’s the reason the cost is so unreasonably high. Their insane higher cost has nothing to do with the alkaline water quality.

I strongly recommend avoiding this brand because of the pyramid scheme they run. A good quality product should not require such deceptive marketing techniques.

  • Alkazone

There are no scam or federal issues with the brand. But it seems consumers don’t like the brand for some reasons. Some of them complained it tasted like metal and upset their stomachs!

And compare to other trusted alkaline brands, it costs a lot more! You can find plenty of complaints about its higher cost.

Of course, it tastes less metallic than the tap water but what’s the point of paying a premium that still tastes like metal?

  • Phenomenal Alkaline Water

Rather than selling alkaline water, the brand sells alkaline water concentrate. The problem is with their tasteful water variety.

After drinking the concentrate for a while, some people mentioned it did not increase their pH level at all.

Some consumers said it tasted awful! Apparently, many people could not tolerate the awful aftertaste as well. So, you can find some negative reviews on major online platforms.

  • AquaHydrate

If you have been drinking alkaline water for a while, you have heard of this brand. Sadly, there are some negative ratings about their alkaline water that you should be aware of.

You can look it up yourself but some consumers mentioned it tasted like just tap water! Moreover, as opposed to the brand’s claim of having pH 9+ in their water, it was actually 6 to 7 after tested it at the pool store.

It’s not just a few bad experiences, there are lots of consumers confirming to have salty awful taste. I consider this another least preferable alkaline water brand and you are welcome to verify why yourself.

  • Proud Source Alkaline Water

The brand claims to contain an 8.1 pH level of alkaline and there is nothing wrong with that claim. The quality is great and the water does not taste like metal.

But the main problem with Proud Source is that their alkaline water is way much overpriced!

Alkaline Water Brands To Trust

Don’t be disappointed seeing so many brands on the least preferable list. I just want you to be careful and do some digging yourself.

To help you out with some trusted alkaline water brands, here is a good list you can trust!

Alkaline Water Benefits: Myth Or Real?

You are drinking it, so I guess you know all the benefits of drinking alkaline water. But let me explain why many people think it’s just a waste of money.

I am not an expert but I do my own study before I go crazy about something and trust the science. This is what I have found out:

  • According to many experts, your body is perfectly capable to detox itself. You don’t need something fancy like alkaline water to do that costing huge money.
  • You may think it’s helping you regarding your hydration. But the truth is there is no large-scale study on it.
  • Many people drink this water to deal with bone loss issues. But several studies on alkaline water and bone loss have found there is no association between the two at all.
  • If you think alkaline water will help you out with your acid reflux, think again. There is no clinical evidence to support this.
  • It may taste better than your tap water but there is not much evidence suggesting it helps with your athleticism or improves anything.
